Huh. Can't believe I haven't posted in a year! Have really missed posting but haven't felt up to it. And now it looks like most of the Kool Kids have migrated to Dreamwidth. But that's what I get for dropping the ball. C'est la vie. So what has la vie been like lately? Perhaps a quick list will cover it.

  • Thesis? Yup, still not done. But soooooooooo close I can taste it.

  • Guilt factor: 11.

  • Fall/Winter Fandom of Choice: Fullmetal Alchemist. So much to do to poor work with in the dashing Colonel Mustang.

  • Spring/Summer Fandom of Choice: NCIS. o_O!! My first live-action fandom in like 10 FUCKING YEARS! Really not sure what that says about my psyche. All I know is Agent Gibbs really floats my boat. (But what's with all the Stargate crossovers????)

  • Re hankering after a man 20 years my senior: WTF? (At least he is younger than my dad...)

  • Re feeling amazingly old myself: WTF????
  • (How did I get to be this old???)
  • Number of fics completed since last post: 1. (Two days ago)

  • Number of fics started and left to go fallow since last post: 3

  • Sense of failure at not being able to complete anything: Massive

  • Worry over future of life as a middle-aged spinster with no particular skillz: Super Massive

  • Out-of-proportion annoyance currently elicited by:

    • IMDB's new layout

    • Fanfic writers who do not know that "intact" is one fucking word

    • People asking me when I will be done

    • U-turns being pulled in inappropriate places by bad college drivers

  • Things that have managed to make me happy despite my abysmal self-loathing:

    • Pop Culture Happy Hour on NPR (So.Much.Love.)

    • Guest kitty (who sadly must go home this weekend)

    • Diving in pitch black water in Florida

    • Did I mention NCIS????

    • Occasional texts from Ms. E. telling me she misses me. (Love you, Babe!!!)

    • The Bones episode The Double Death of the Dearly Departed. Crazy slapstick FTW.

    • The song "Kandi" by One Eskimo (even though the song itself is not exactly happy...)

  • Song currently on repeat on my headphones: "Power Trip Ballad" by Maria Mena. (Perhaps the fact that I can't get the line "Do you wanna know why I'm angry" out of my head should tell me something.)

  • Financial Stress Factor: let's not go there

  • Something that has made me laugh out loud recently: The line "I hated it like it kicked my dog and sent me an invoice." From Linda Holmes on Monkey See blog on NPR.

  • Movies I've seen in the theater:

    • The A Team. 3 times. Cannot believe how much I enjoyed this movie!

    • Inception. Once. Interesting and pretty, but not sure I need another run through.

    • Scott Pilgrim. Once. Fun, but I wanted Knives and Ramona to end up together at the end and tell Scott to take a hike. :D

  • Movie I am probably looking forward to wayyyyyyy too much for someone my age: Tron: Legacy. Can. Not. Wait.

  • Movie I want to watch but know it will make me want to slit my wrists: A Single Man

  • General Sense of Panic at Hiding out from Real Life in Movies/tv/tvtropes/etc: 71.8

  • Amount of thesis time wasted writing this blog entry: 1 hour 20 minutes.

  • Amount of Stress Relief Achieved: 12.4 Hugs

Okay, I guess that's enough for now. If anyone actually read this, thanks! *hug* And it's nice to be back. Facebook is nice and all, but here I can be myself and (mostly) anonymous and naughty as I please. Damn, I've missed this place!!

*tackle hugs you* Welcome back!

Yay for being close enough to taste the end of your thesis. You've put a lot into it since the last time you posted.

I've seen A-Team twice and really enjoyed it. The action sequences are well done and the casting was spot on. Breaking Murdoch out of the hospital has to be one of my favorite scenes of all time.

My movie night group is currently working through NCIS as filler and I'm liking it more than I thought I would.

Have you seen Warehouse 13?

Thanks!!! *hugs back* So good to hear from you!!!!!! Hehe, I do love Murdoch dangling from the helicopter rotor blade singing "You spin me right round..." Oh, and him lighting Face on fire and admiring him for being dangerous. Still makes me laugh! The casting really was spot on.

Yay for NCIS! I got sucked in during one of those 12-hour marathons on USA when I was dog-sitting a while back and it is slowly turning into a moderate obsession. Am hoping it will calm down soon, so I don't keep boring my friends with 'that reminds me of a scene from NCIS..." *headdesk*

I have not seen Warehouse 13 yet. Do you recommend?? (I will need to start something new once I have caught up on Bones, which should be pretty soon....)

That is another classic moment and it is something he would have done in the original series. Another thing I really liked was them explaining where BA's fear of flying came from. I always assumed it had to do with Murdoch, but it was nice to have it actually spelled out. The action was great, but the dynamics of the group is what really made it.

*grins* I saw part of one of those marathons. The first episode I remember seeing was the one with Abby at the sexual harassment seminar. That just set the stage for me. She, Ducky and Palmer are my favorites though for the most part I like them all to some extent.

I very much recommend Warehouse 13. It's a SyFY original and well done. The chemistry in the pilot is a bit eh until the end and it really clicks during the series. They're currently on season 2 so it is not a huge amount of canon to get current with.

Lukoni! *glomps!*

So good to see you! I'm just back myself after an extended and pathetic absence from All Things Fun, and was sad to see your journal as neglected as mine. But here you are!

I am mostly over on Dreamwidth now, due to LJ's moronic privacy violating policies, but I am still keeping tabs on LJ flist.

If you want to set up a dw account (assuming you don't already have one, and if you do, please let me know so I can find you over there,) I can give you an invite code.

I hope to see you about. :D

*glomps back* HIIIIIIIII!!!! I am glad you have emerged back into the light too! Perhaps we are on similar star cycles. Or biorhythms. Or something. :D

Am glad you are still checking on things over here despite LJ's attempt to unprivatize our lives. I do not yet have a dw account, but am thinking I should set one up so I can cover my bases. So, um, yes please for the invite code? THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU

I hope to see you about as well! Will attempt to check in more frequently, for sure! Great to hear from you!

Very pleased to see you posting again. Good luck with the rest of your thesis and well done with all the work you've put in on it since the last time you posted.

FMA is one of my favourites and NCIS is on my list of shows I want to watch. Working through Bones slowly. There are really not enough hours in the day.

Thanks for the hug and good wishes! Hope all is well with you.

FMA was pretty darned good, I agree. And for once a series ended in a way that didn't piss me off! :) I was very satisfied with the ending (the manga/brotherhood ending, not the original anime ending...). If you have any recommendations for another good series, let me know. I feel at lose ends without a series to follow. (Of course I check back in on Bleach every few months, but it's mostly just idle curiosity at this point, not serious commitment.) NCIS is definitely worth it - not that I'm biased or anything! ;)

Definitely not enough hours in the day for all the junky tv out there waiting to be devoured! But I have faith that we will prevail! ;)

Hahahaha, thesis. Yeah.

Anyway, I miss you and some other people in CS. A couple. Like 3. And one of those may be a dog. But I am hoping to finish up this semester (hahahaha) so I can do PhD thingies. *hides*

Exciting TV for you? Maybe White Collar, Vampire Diaries is good cheez, and there is an anime of Supernatural coming out. Although, I'm surprised it took that long. When you describe the plot (two brothers who have a cool car and hunt demons, and are also the chosen vessels of Lucifer and Michael for the upcoming Apocalypse) it sounds like an anime.

No way, dude!! I was totally sure you had written me off completely!! Great to hear from you! (I'm with you on the dog, though.) Good luck on the finishing up. It is so frustrating to be so close and know that somehow there is still so much left to do. Like stupid references and figures and crap. I am sure yours will kick ass! :) Do you have a PhD project ready and waiting?

Might have to check out White Collar - I have nothing against roguishly charming art thieves as long as they don't get too smug. Don't think I am ready for vamps yet - hard to take them seriously after Buffy. :D Anime Supernatural?? And considering your description, it definitely sounds like it should have happened well before now! I might have to check it out. Is the real series still going?? It hasn't exploded in a giant angst bomb yet? ;)

Ah! Lukoni! YOU LIIIIIVE! Good to know you're doing mostly-well! I think that stress is eternal, but you're making progress! *hugs!*

And, we're not ALL gone to Dreamwidth, (even though I just opened an account there, yes... >.> )

YO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *hughughug* Yes, I live! So glad you do too! :) I won't hold dw against you. Seems to be a safer haven for all us moral degenerates who threaten the fabric of respectable society with our slashy agenda. ;) If you switch over there full time, I will still come check on you!! Hope all is well with you.

LOL I might be a moral degenerate, but I refuse to admit to others that I am! hehee. Don't worry, I have no intention to move over full time, but it is a really nice and convenient backup for my LJ. And I can cross-post really easy from there too. When I finish the fic I'm working on, I just might cross post it here. DreamWidth has so many bits and bobs that my free LJ doesn't have. More icons, lots of little features that I don't get, more layouts...

*shame* I am attracted to the pretty features.... *SHAAAME*

Posted by [identity profile] lukon-idein.livejournal.com
The cross-posting feature seems very handy. I might end up going that route. And sometimes pretty features are totally worth it. (I myself am sick of being stuck with a measly 5 icons). It's not like you're selling your soul for an iPhone, at least! (But, of course, if you have an iPhone, I will do my best not to hold it against you...) :P
