I've been in one of those moods for the last couple of weeks - frustrated, uncreative, and highly susceptible to new music. I still haven't figured out when or why it happens, but there are times when I hear a song that catches my ear and sticks in my brain and I have to play it overandoverandoverandover for days. I remember when I was a kid, I spent a good 2 or 3 days doing a jigsaw puzzle and playing Side 2 of Abbey Road endlessly. My mom never indicated that this might be... odd, bless her heart.

So apparently the stars have aligned in spades for another cycle of craziness, and now I have 3 songs I can't get out of my head, and have just added a fourth today. I guess I'm just going to have to keep my mp3 batteries charged and try to soldier through.

It all started with that Linda Thompson song I posted a while back. From there it moved on to this other Song of the Day feature:

Saddest Sound by Lucy Wainwright. Such a nice, clear voice. And great, mellow but not overly-angsty song.

This was followed by two songs by Ore Ska Band - doesn't everyone love all-girl Japanese Ska bands? I thought so. Bubbly and fun and so freakin' catchy it will drive you insane!!!!!
Tsumasaki featured as a Bleach closing credit song (after being unable to download this, I simply played it on my computer and recorded it with my mp3 player, I was that desperate to be able to listen to it whenever I wanted!);
Pinocchio featured as a Naruto closing credit song.

And now, it's this one, also from NPR's Song of the Day.
Havoc in Heaven by Jesca Hoop. This one is full of cool chords and odd rhythms that make everything slightly surreal and off kilter. I just love songs like that. (Like The Usher Waltz by Nikita Koshkin - a guitar piece that is just on the other side of normal. So great!!)

So anyway, I'm stuck in autistic music loop mode and am not sure when I will emerge. Really want to write a fic, but inspiration is lacking. Have been feeling restless lately and may write a piece or two for (gasp) another fandom, just for a wee break. But it makes me sad that all my die-hard GW friends are into different "other fandoms" from me. It's like leaving college to strike out into the real world or something. Or perhaps moving away from all my friends to go to grad school and then being completely unable to make new friends and going slowly crazy locked in my bedroom while listening to anime theme songs on endless loops. Oh wait, I've already done that. ;P

I support you and your theme song love. And, I think you're allowed to cross fandoms....as long as you don't, you know, WRITE Cross-fic about it... Duo never meets the power puff girls; he really doesn't. Make the insanity stop!

Thank you for your musical support! It can be especially frustrating when those theme songs get stuck in there because they are usually about a minute and a half max, which means you have the hit the repeat button CONSTANTLY! :)

Hahahahaa. I think Duo and Buttercup are a natural pairing, what do you MEAN?? And Blossom is clearly a Trowa!proxy, so she'd have to hook up with Quatre. Then Bubbles and Relena.... what... wait? Why are you running?? ;P

Actually I think it would be funny to write a little get-together fic of all the shinigami characters in anime - so far I can only think of Duo, plus the guys in Yami no Matsuei and then the folks from Bleach (of which there are about a zillion), but I'm sure there are more. Oh yeah, I guess we'd have to put Death Note in there too. Could be an interesting gathering. It seems to be a popular figure in Japanese lit.

I dunno, I've read one or two crossovers that I've liked, but it is rare to find good ones that really capture the characters well and get the interaction right. (Darthanne's GW-Stargate crossover comes to mind, even though it's, sadly (sniff, sniff), on hold for the time being.) Though now that you mention it, I must humbly request the destruction of all Sailor Moon crossovers everywhere for all time!!!!!!!

“I’m bubbles!” Quatre said happily, floating over the thieving-villain.

“This is my lov-BROther, Blossom!” Quatre continued in his high falsetto voice. Trowa floated there, glaring.

“And buttercup!” Heero brought out his gun, aiming for the thief.

“Hey, hey, HEY! No powerpuffs are going to stop SHINI-CHAN!” The thieving-villian said, posing with a cape of black flying out behind him.

“Get him, Buttercup! ... Buttercup? HEY! Earth to BUTTERCUP!” Bubbles called, flying to wave his little fingerless-hand infront of the tough-ones eyes.

“Hn.”

Trowa looked at his little blonde lover...err.. BROTHER... and sighed, “I think we have a problem.”

BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA! *kisses you* That was awesome. I'd pay money to see Heero say "And Buttercup!" *dies laughing*

See I was thing more along the lines of....

"Thank you very much, Professor, for letting me meet with your daughters. Their imput will be very useful in tracking down this Mojo Jojo character."

"You're very welcome, Agent Chang. They're great girls, aren't they?" The father asked, his voice brimming with indulgent pride.

The normally stern Preventer offered a rare smile. "I admire them a great deal, Professor. You are very lucky to have them."

"Yes," Professor Utonium said wistfully. "But it breaks my heart that they don't have another parent around to help guide them. I'm so busy sometimes, it's hard to be there for them when they need it."

"And I'm sure they are quite a handful."

"Oh indeed, indeed," the professor chuckled. "I'm not very good at discipline." He cocked his head to the side as if he'd just noticed something. "I bet you know a lot about that, in your line of work."

"Certainly," said the veteran officer.

"Perhaps you'd... like to join me for dinner and we could... discuss your methods in detail?"

"I would be honored, Professor."

OH LORD! *SQUICK SQUICK* Now..how WOULD chang and Utonium go at it.... change being drawn for in 2-D.... and Utominum being... more...rounded? I can't even explain it, but I think it's just pyshically too much!

That Dark and Delicate.... *hums hums* DAMN YOU!

and look at that! The squick threw me so much, that comment didn't even make SENSE! *chang is more dimentional then Utonium. That was the point there... The end.

Um, I mean, sorry for totally grossing you out. ;P I agree, Professor U. is a bit too, errrr, flat? angular? square? for comfort. But he's so lonely, bearing all the responsibility for the girls on his own shoulders. It's so saaaaaaaad, dontcha think? And there's Wufei all strong and noble and responsible... and you just know he'll love those girls like very own daughters... sniff, sniff. I'm all choked up just thinking about it. *snicker, snicker*

Now if I can just find a fanartist to draw Heero as Buttercup life will be perfect. :P

Awwwwwwww!!!!! So cute!!! (But Heero's not in the Buttercup outfit, dammit...and no gun... but I'll take what I can get.) Love that Tro still has just the one eye - I mean really, it takes a lot of hair to cover an eye that big! And super-frowning Wufei makes me laugh a whole lot. Maybe *he* should be Buttercup!

my personal fav is Quatre, with the little sling-shot to make him look feirce. All the other guys look ready for action without a weapon...Poor Quatre; ALWAYS underestimated.... *points to icon*

Poor Quatre! Although it almost looks like he just stole the slingshot from Tro's back pocket, which would highlight his sneaky side. And I think Duo appears to be the most harmless of the bunch. What the H*ll is he supposed to be doing, anyway?

A most excellent icon, indeed. (Not that I support Quatre being a homicidal maniac....)
