Huh. I just accidentally googled the string ["The] and the top four hits were:

1) The Onion
2) The White House
3) T.H.E. Journal Online (Technology Horizons in Education)
4) The Economist.

What a strange collection of items! I guess 3 of them, at least, are publications, so I guess they have that in common. #7 was the main page of Wikipedia - the free encyclopedia. Is it just me or is it creepy that they always manage to wrangle their way to the top of all searches everywhere?

Oh well. Back to sucking at life.

*random glomps* Good to see you haven't fallen off the face of the Earth. Wikipedia is like circle K or Walgreens, no matter where you look it's right there.

*glomps back!!!* It's so good to hear from you!!!!! Sorry I've been pretty non-participatory lately. Talk about writer's block from hell - I haven't been able to write anything on my thesis for 2 months (research, yes, writing, no). And then of course if I even think about writing a story for fun, my brain yells at me for wasting time. If you're going to write anything, it should be thesis stuff, not fluffy pr0n, you idiot. And then that mentality bled into writing blog entries and emails to friends and possibly even checks.... all wasteful uses of writing energies.

Plus I've been panicking about being old and childless and still in school and hurtling towards doddering spinsterhood of 30-cat proportions. But I won't go into that now.

So, um, yes, WikipediaMart. Ubiquitous and creepy. And yet I made my first edit to it the other day it was really cool to be able to contribute to the Great Human Brain Dump Project. Though it does frighten me that some X-men characters have longer entries than various real people of seeming import (cf. Jean Grey vs. Colin Powell). Ah well, pop culture rules all, these days.

But when did you get cats? And besides - you are one of the coolest people I know

I don't have any cats yet! That's how much I'm failing even at spinsterhood!! Can't really afford one right now - last time I heard they want to eat, like, every day or some such nonsense. Spoiled babies.

Thanks for the pep talk and the checking in and all!! You are my inspiration!
