An extra week to brood. Oh Boy!

Well, I was supposed to be on a plane today for parts unknown. Or at least, parts far away. Not so fast. Permits say... wait one more week. So I get to hang out in town and work on my thesis for a week. Should we lay odds on how much of that time will be wasted on brooding, reading slash, watching anime and, maybe, possibly, writing smut?? Hmmmmm.... probably too much.
At least the delay will let me recover from the stupid typhoid vaccine. I'm apparently one of the lucky 6% of the population that gets stomach cramps from it. Joy. It may have something to do with the fact that the pill contains lactose for some reason. Really have no idea one would need lactose in a pill. What up?? Last dose today - yippee!!
I got to dive with my new gear last week and it kicked ass! So happy to have a BC that fits comfortably and doesn't inflate itself at the expense of pushing in my stomach. Unfortunately my excitement is dimmed by reports of all the deadly creatures I will be diving with in Indonesia. YIKES. There's the lovely Crown of Thorns starfish, the delightful blue-ringed octopus and the classic box jellyfish. It's not that I didn't know there would be nasty creatures there, but hearing about the reality of it is a bit sobering. Fortunately it will only be for two weeks, and then I'll move on to Turkey where there are just scorpion fish and draconia to contend with. Phew.
And for now it's an easy, roommate-free week. Le sigh. Le purr. And I'm watching Bringing Up Baby, which I haven't seen in ages and it is totally cheering me up. "Ah, look at the nasty little cur!" HAHAHAHAHAHAAA. "I lost my heel." "Oh, don't bother about him." Bwahahahahahaha. "But don't you find it a bit chilly without a gun, Elizabeth?" LOL. Such a great film. Maybe I'll spend the rest of the week watching Cary Grant movies..... Except episode 66 of Bleach is calling my name. And volume 4 of Cantarella. And Book 3 of the Lymond Chronicles.
And I'd like to get some writing in but I've been feeling remarkably uncreative lately. As much as I love my Tro, I feel like I'm running out of things to say about him. sniff, sniff. Or maybe I'm just bored by my own writing style. And to make things worse, I just wrote a story for
fic_on_demand for a request for a Bonanza fic!!!! Dude, like it wasn't depressing enough to write for arguably the least popular GW pilot, I have now written for a show so old that most folks on LJ have probably never heard of it, let alone seen it, and for a character that left halfway through the show and many people never liked to begin with. (Next thing you know, I'll be writing Burke's Law slash! Maybe a crossover with Secret Agent...) But I couldn't resist the call from a fellow Adam Cartwright fan, knowing that it was very unlikely that anyone else would step up to the plate. (If anyone's interested, the fic's here.) One hopes that the original requester will read it at least. (Though she may have forgotten she even asked for it by now!) I will admit it was fun to visit another fandom for a while, though. Perhaps I've gotten the wanderlust out of my spirit and can settle down for a bit more Tro before I go. (And there's always that 21-hour flight to Singapore. *makes note to pack pencil and small notebook*)
But for now, I really should be thinking THESIS THESIS THESIS THESIS!!!!! Repeat after me. THESIS THESIS THESIS THESIS. Bleach, bad, Thesis good. (But Byakuya's sooooo hot...)

on 2007-05-28 02:26 am (UTC)Anyhow, I just wanted to say I hope you have, are having, or have had fabulous travels. And on a more selfish note, I do hope you aren't done writing Trowa. *lil muskrit grin*

on 2007-06-22 05:31 am (UTC)Thanks for the good wishes. My travels are going pretty well, with only one minor illness to interrupt things. No, I don't plan on giving up Trowa writing - he's my Boy! I can't give him up!! But I'm hoping this break will rejuvenate me somewhat - I need some fresh ideas and a fresh persective. (And I'm still trying to figure out how I can get him and Hakkai from Saiyuki together - all those intense green eyes in one place! mmmmmmmm....)

on 2008-12-14 03:28 pm (UTC)Well, I hadn't read it 'til now! Trixie posted a list of unfilled requests and I was idly looking for mine (no one will ever write it, sob!) and it wasn't there. I just assumed it had been purged because it was so old, but that didn't seem right. So I went looking for the fics that had been written and nearly died of shock when I found your story!
In late May of 2007, I was just recovering from a family health crisis (travels to help take care of both parents in two different states, neither of them the one I live in) and I think I was away from LJ for quite a few months around then. At any rate, I'm so sorry I missed this at the time (it would have cheered me up mightily!) but so happy to have found it now. I'm still reading and will comment at the story post when I'm done, but thank you sooo much!
