Still Alive... for now...

lukon_ideinSo here İ am in Turkey! Weehaa. İ had a wonderful time in İndonesia - so beautiful there!!!! - though İ started to come down with a mysterious illness by the end. After three days of travel and five flights İ felt like total crap - completely nauseous and my arm felt all strange, swollen, weak and messed up. And so İ stopped in İstanbul and got checked out. They seemed to think İ had some sort of virus (the nausea) and also decompression sickness (my arm). Yikes!! So İ stayed a week in İstanbul, had three treatments in a hyperbaric chamber and then went on my way to the site - where İ can`t dive yet cuz it`s too deep. My doctor said only no decompression dives for 4 weeks. WAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!
But, in the meantime, the nausea continues. No other symptoms make it difficult to diagnose. All İ know is that it gets worse at night and when İ lie down flat. Had some test done last week and it turns out İ had a urinary tract infection, which may be the cause of my nausea or may not. İ`ve been on Cipro for a week but İ`m still not sure the nausea is gone. My prof says it could be all the antibiotics making it worse. We`ll see soon İ guess since today was my last Cipro day. İf it persists İ`m supposed to get an ultrasound done of my tummy, and if that is negative they would treat me for stomach ulcers - and if that proved uneffective they`d stick a camera down there and have a look. Yummy. Bodies are stupid. I vote for downloading our consciousnesses into indestructible android bodies. Who`s with me??
İ guess that`s mostly it. We survived the ghastly heat wave with the aid of much swimming in the cool Aegean waters. Temps as high as 47 degrees Celcius were reported, which in Fahrenheit equals Too The Fuck Hot! Things are much more tolerable now and we are hoping it lasts a good long while. Though recent winds have brought in some pretty chilly waters for the divers. So sometimes it`s a good thing İ`m off the roster. İ`m spending most of my time working on artifact photography and updating the project database, so İ`m not bored or useless, which is nice.
Now İ`m off to tackle my insurance company to see if they will be covering my medical expenses from all this mess. Somehow İ suspect the answer will be no! Fortunately the chamber treatements are covered by my dive insurance. GO DAN!!!!!
