FIRST YEAR OF GRAD SCHOOL NOW OFFICIALLY COMPLETE!!!! YEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Now instead of panicking over papers and exams and presentations I can panic over how the hell I'm going to keep paying all my freakin' bills. Ugh. This not being employed thing is really scary. At least I have a modicum of insurance over the summer connected to my assistantship. AND I am now officially a member of DAN so if I get in a hideous scuba accident they will cover all my helicopter and decompression chamber costs. Doesn't that give you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside? Me too. (). Fortunately I will be diving in very shallow water this summer, so the most I probably have to worry about is being bitten by a catfish.

Oh, and MAN! My doctor for my dive physical was apparently roommates with Agent Mulder at some point in his life. Very odd. He insisted I check out the Forbidden Archeology website and that I had best be on my guard from The Powers That Be who would be trying to suppress anything unexplainable I might find. I said I would do my best, but that I would be working on a 19th century steamboat wreck which probably didn't have too many hidden mysteries. And he showed me this website that claims that airplane trails in the sky are actually evidence of the government (in cahoots with the pharmaceutical companies, naturally) spraying the atmostphere with chemicals to improve atmospheric conditions for communications with submarines and also causing people to get sick more often (esp. with asthma) allowing the pharm. cos. to rake in the dough. I was expecting the Lone Gunmen to pop their heads in any minute!! Not that I would put anything past the pharmaceutical companies....

And completely randomly, I was reading a fic last night where the author kept using words that either almost meant what she intended, or else sounded a lot like what she intended. I'm not trying to be a snob, because it happens to all of us now and then, and I'm all for people expanding their vocabulary, but there were just so many in this one story, and I got to the part where she described the stairway as being lit by wall "scones" and I just could not stop laughing. Oh dear. I need to start collecting these things!!!

Well, that's it for now. Nothing exciting. Just lots and lots of relief.
